Default Just Knock On My Door For Crying Out Loud!

It's a beautiful day here and Wolfie was out in the back yard playing. He is on a trolley run because we can't have a fence where we are, due to conservation restrictions. Anyways, I am in the house and I am hearing what sounds like chopping noises. There is lots of yard work going on in the neighborhood, so I didn't think anything about it until I hear the tree fall in what sounds like my back yard. I ran to the patio doors to check, and there is our new next door neighbor with an axe and a tall tree down in his yard, but on the property line. WTH! A couple inches to the right, and it would have hit Wolfie! Then he proceeds to start chopping on another tree. He can chop all the trees down on his property if he wants to. Heck, I could use a few taken down myself, but that tree could have fallen on Wolfie! I went out and brought Wolfie in. Would it be too much to ask to come knock on my front door and give me a minute to take the dog in first? I approached him, but he turned away when he saw me coming and answered his phone. I plan on asking him politely to let me bring the dog in first before he cuts down any more trees on the property line. I haven't actually met him yet, as I have been away all summer, when they moved in.

Geez- it would have been a lot easier to come over and warn you than to come over and say he squashed your dog

I swear common sense is a scarce thing these days.

I sometimes wonder if its about common sense or people just lack courtesy and empathy Either way the Im liking dogs more and more . Glad Wolfie stayed safe.In your community did he need permission from the board/committee to cut down a tree?

No he didn't need any permission since it was on his property. If it was on the conservation land, then yes, he would need permission. I'm with you, I'm liking dogs more every day.

So I know this priest- I know a lot of priests since I work with them on a daily basis. This one Irish priest was given a boxer pup and he had her tethered to a tree while a bunch of parishoners were working on the property clearing trees to make room for the parking lot to be expanded. I kid you not, someone cut down a sapling, it landed on the pup and killed her. I thought of her as soon as I read your story. Fortunately someone gave him another pup and her name is Vincent- he got her on St Vincent's feast day. She greets everyone before and after mass. But I digress....so glad Wolfie is safe. I would make a nice batch of cookies or brownies and go visit the new neighbors with Wolfie

definitely tell him to let you know when he's
cutting down trees so you can bring Wolfie in.
may be you should tell him whenever he's doing
any kind of yard work to let you know so you can bring Wolfie
in.

I wouldn't hesitate to tell him to let you know before he starts cutting down trees so that you can bring your dog in. I have told neighbors about much less before. I was visiting my brother once and his neighbor started his sprinkler with my car parked on the curb, my shiny car was getting wet-not good. I went and told him-next time you need to come tell me before you turn on your sprinkler so that I can move my car. Perhaps I am over the top-but if it was my dog-I seriously would have went off on him.
