Since you are in Ireland it made me think of the Irish Wolfhound.
Once used to hunt and kill wolves, maybe one of those would make a good next puppy for your friend. ...an old Irish proverb describes him perfectly: "Gentle when stroked, fierce when provoked." from the AKC website. The only problem, it would need lots of room, not an apartment kind of dog. I'm sorry to hear of your friend's loss. Too often we read or hear about loose dogs killing other dogs, cats and even children for crying out loud.

I dont think my mate will be getting another dog for a long time. Her kids are very upset about the loss of little Lacey. She was like another kid in the house.
I agree though that Wolfhounds are very good dogs if you have the time and space. |
