I guess this is when it all began for me. This was at least 45 or more years ago. His name was Lightning, my grandparents dog. He had a brother Bucky. Unfortunately they became enemies. They were Belgum Shepherds. I loved that dog so much, even though I only saw the dogs once a week, Lightning would let me smother him with hugs. Bucky, growled at me once when I was giving him a hug, I never told on him. I guess these days this would have been some kind of animal abuse.

What an impact childhood memories can have! My grandparents always had Dobermans for protection. Fritz was the name of the one that I grew up around. Apparently when I was about 2 years old, I decided to "help" Fritz eat. I stuck my plump arm in his bowl while he was eating and held the food up to his mouth and he in turn thanked me with a nice bite to my head. It was a minor scrape, but enough to scare me - even to this day. I still won't go near a Doberman due to it and that's been oh thirty somethin' years ago!

He's waiting on the Rainbow Bridge.
There's so many critters waiting for me on the bridge, they'd better be getting along! And no chasing the cats!
