We all went out yesterday for about 2hrs. When we got home, my older son went to the front door first and called out to me. Our security door was open (lock still intact) all the surrounding door frame was shattered. The front wooden door was open. Shadow (10mth gsd) was inside thank goodness. My first thought was that Shadow had broken threw the door trying to get to us, because you could see the door had been forced open from the inside out. Then my younger son yells out to me, mummy don't be cross with Shadow she didn't do it, come look in your room and my laptop is missing!. Oh my goodness it could have been so much worse. We think whats happened is, the thieves have come threw our kitchen window out the backyard area of the house, ( kitchen window was open with the screen off it because it had just been cleaned) We left our 3 little yappy dogs in the yard and Shadow in the house. So we think they've come threw the kitchen then made their way up the hall to the bedrooms, spotted my sons laptop which he'd been using just a short while before ,sitting on his bed. They've then gone to my room and opened drawers, gone threw jewelery boxes. Shadow would have been asleep some where in the house, she may have heard a noise but not reacted immediately because we didn't come home threw the front door. Were pretty sure she would have given them one **** of a fright when she finally went to have a look. We have a lot of electronics in the house, including a pc sitting within feet of the front door and they only got away with my little boys laptop and some cheap jewelry. We found some blood spots on the bench top near the kitchen window and a couple on the wall outside the window. The police were happy with the dna. We are all just so happy that Shadow wasn't hurt and she was still inside when we got home. We are all a little on edge at the moment. I just hope something comes of the dna. I tell you I want another GSD, one for the back yard to now. Shadow has more than paid for herself, we didn't get her to be a guard dog, but she's done a great job. 10 months old. We could have been cleaned out. Police don't believe the thief/thieves will be back, not after discovering Shadow in the house. I'm going to be nervous for a while every time she goes for a walk at the moment.

So sorry that happened but thank God Shadow is safe and sound- and that those scum bags were out of the house when your boy walked in. A laptop is a small price to pay for what could have happened.

OMG, thank goodness they did not take her or harm her. That would have been my biggest fear. Glad all are ok.

That is my biggest fear, that someone is going to steal my Ryker. Take whatever you want, just leave my dog!

This is one reason we got Titon. That and because both my wife and I are deaf with 2 hearing sons.
I am glad that you guys were able to get DNA and that Shadow came out of it safe and sound. Keep us posted on the outcome. -E

So where did the blood come from? Do you think Shadow got a piece of one of them?
Glad to hear not too much was lost and not a ton of damage done. I guess a lock on a door is only as good as the door frame...

How scary
Thank goodness Shadow was safe and well. I really hope the dna can lead to an arrest. Sending you
