Default she is so fierce

just a few moments ago i took ava out for her late night potty break. as i open the door ava spotted the raccoon who has been digging up my plants. she got into her kill stance. hair standing down her back ear straight up tail down one leg kinda kicked back ready to push off. i had her on a leash and we were in the screened room for the pool so there was no chance she would get into it with the coon. it is just kinda cool to see 4 month old ava switch for happy little girl to lets rock in the blink of an eye. sho loves people and is pretty good with dogs but other critters beware lol

haha sounds like Shasta. She saw a rabbit the other night and it was game on. Which is funny because she's gotten really good with the cats.

My Shasta is the same way...you should see how fierce she is when we walk past the neighborhood cows! What is it with 4 month old baby girls?

that is an excellent question! We were walking yesterday and walked past a house that had a very angry sounding dog in the backyard. Shasta hit the deck and tried to crawl away and when that didnt work, she tried to climb up my body. One minute they are fierce and ferocious and the next they're cowering! lol.

the only thing i have seen scare ava is the dark lol as far a as animals and stuff she doesnt back down. lol she thinks she is 3 feet tall and bullet proof. lol it is just funny to see her turn into a mini attack dog lol. to be honest i wouldnt let her near a coon. i have seen a coon give a large dog a run for its money.

i'd be more concerned with the deer around here. The raccoons tend to stay away but the deer stroll on through housing likes its cool. Its getting to be mating season too. The deer are getting more bold. Had another one in our yard the other night. No idea why they keep hopping the fence into our yard but the dogs just about lose their minds every time.

yes i live on a military base currently. I take my dogs to the base vet for their shots and basic checkups because its cheaper and generally easier. For any surgery type stuff i have to go to a civilian vet because they dont handle it. I would suggest doing a test run to see how you like to people there. Seeing the tech is usually cheaper than seeing the doctor, at least here. Shasta does well at the base vet but the one here doesnt have a floor scale and lifting a growing pup onto the table for a weight is getting tough. I would definitely say if the army vet near you is like the one here, i would suggest it for basics but also find a civilian vet that has GSD experience in a positive light that actually likes and is knowledgable of the breed for anything major such as surgeries, allergies, genetic diseases. Those kinds of things. i usually use banfield but they dont allow me to accompany my dogs to the back and i dont like that as you never know what they're doing to your dog or if your dog will come back tramatized by the experience. Definitely look for a vet that will allow you with YOUR dog at all times. The base vet here has a special place in their hearts for GSDs as most of the employees have GSD or GSD mixes.

right on. i will look in to it because i know the army vet is much cheaper. the only reason i didnt take her there to start with is because they didnt have a puppy plan so they wanted to charge for each shot and every thing and i found a vet that had a puppy plan for a great price. thanks

no problem. We got a puppy package discount the first visit but after that it was priced for everything. This visit wednesday should be her last visit until she's a year old.... i hope. I cant keep shoving out $40+ on shots that she doesnt need so many of except that we live on base and housing are control freak jerks. Two kids still in diapers and changing dog food, thats $40 could go to so many other things than over vaccinating.
