Default The GSD spirit

One of the (many) reasons I love this breed is they seem to be so resilient and full of spirit, and Noire has really shown me just how strong that spirit can be.

It will be a week tomorrow since i've brought her home, and the change i've seen so far is really exceptional. Strangely enough she's already walking taller, her pasterns don't seem as saggy and she's not as on her hocks as she was. I think a big part is as she becomes more comfortable she isn't slinking around like she used to all the time. Plus she's actually out walking now and not confined to a small concrete kennel. While she still has the droopy old dog look to her face she more often than not has a big goofy grin, when she's not going around licking everybody (cats included :P).

I was told that she had a previous bite history and that she was not good with men or children, she met my stepdad and my 9 year old sister and didn't think anything of it, they each got a lick and a tail wag and that was that.

Her and Odin have been buddies since the beginning, it's been awesome to see the two of them playing and sleeping together. Odin and Harley were really close and i'm so happy that he has another dog to live with, and Noire seems to be really benefiting from the companionship as well. Even at almost 9 years old (as far as I know) she'll go up to Odin while he's sleeping and wake him up to play.

The amount of love and attention that this dog has given me in return in such a short time is amazing, i'm really lucky to have such great dogs.

Amazing. We got our boy Max at 11 months from a breeder. He lived outside, in a kennel, and had not seen the inside of a house since he was first born. He came to us scared, and not knowing what would happen to him. (He even tried to jump out of the car window on the way home.) It took such a short time for him to bond with us, and over three years later --- he is a joy. It helped that he has had Sadie with him every step of the way. It is amazing to see the bond they have.
