Okay, so I trade dogs out of the bedroom at noon (since minna eats lunch and Sobacca doesn't and then she gets an hour of play time with me or just being downstairs)...Anyway, I took Sobacca outside around 11:55 to go to the bathroom, grabbed his bone and put him in the bedroom.
I got Minna out of the crate and we were literally walking to the front door so she could go out and pee and it starts pouring! I'm not talking cats and dogs, I'm talking a downpour! Of course I don't want to walk out in the rain, and Minna is standing in garage next to me looking at the rain with what looked like a thought of "well i need to go out, but not in that stuff". HAHASo I get this genius idea that I hope will work -- I go and grab her 'fetch' toy because I know she can't resist chasing it. And I take it outside and squeak it once or twice and toss it out of the garage in to the yard. She of course chases it and I say "go potty" hoping she'll do it while she's in the pee zone anyway -- she does understand that go potty or go pee means to squat and pee. Of course with the rain and the toy she doesn't go and she just brings me the toy back, so I toss it again and she brings it back again -- mind you, she's soaked by this point anyway. Finally I go and grab and umbrella and she follows me out to the yard with ears tucked back wondering why she's in the rain and so she ran back to the garage. I call her to me and she comes, and goes in the grass so I said 'go potty' and she squats and pees...and thank god she went because it was a long pee, I don't think she could have held it in the house. Anyway, it was a funny adventure. I thought it was entertaining that she would go in the rain to chase the toy or follow me, but she wouldn't walk 5 feet out there to pee -- even though she definitely needed to go. |

Ha ! that's funny stuff right there !
DJ is such a goof ball he'll go out, do his business then sit in the pour down rain. Course then I have to grab a towel, bring his big wet self inside and hope he doesn't do the shake thing or get the zoomies

I like when they stand there and you get those blinky eyes from when the rain hits them. Best is if Im not quick enough to get the towel on them they start wiping thier faces on everything when we go back in the house.

She got toweled off before we came back inside...but she came in and got the zoomies and couldn't stop before running into the couch and then slipping into the dirty laundry that is in the hallway waiting to be washed.
She's a pretty funny dog. |

That's funny! Raining here, too, today and Shasta saw an umbrella for the first time. She was so distracted by it, she could barely make time to pee!

Lola loves the rain, and thank goodness too because I had to walk her in the storms the past couple of mornings/afternoons/nights (thanks Hermine). We both come back soaked, but she dries off much faster than I do. Last night was the only time that she wanted home NOW! (found out when we got home that there was a tornado warning, so I guess she didn't like the wind as it was picking up). It was also her first time not wanting to go lie down outside in the rain either, but at least she was fine inside (playful/goofy self)

I think Minna can't decide if she likes the rain or not. She had no problem running out to get her toy, but it literally was a torrential downpour. I typically wouldn't have minded walking out in the rain except that I had already showered and was dressed....and it wasn't just sprinkling out there.

That's funny! Reminds me of our Luna, she hates the rain too! I've had to walk out there with an umbrella so she would go pee. The look on her face is hilarious, she gets this disgusted look and backs up at the doorway, as if to say, 'ugh, I'm NOT going out in that!" Luckily, Jaeger doesn't seem to care so far. But, it hasn't been pouring yet when he's had to go out either. Guess we'll find out!
I've been lucky lately that when it was raining, it managed to let up enough so that Luna would deign to go out to pee! |
