Layla (4 mos. old) and Kasey (3?) are constantly raiding each others' crates (toy stealing). All is a competition in the house, but it neve gets nasty. Normally, I do separate them because it gets crazy. One gets a toy; the other has to try to take it. Layla destroys Kasey's toys...poor plastic bugs and things that have survived as his toys for a year now lose their eyeballs or their heads, and I run around picking up the pieces before she chokes on them.
Scout sits back (or hides) and watches the show (or not). You all with multiple dogs -- Do yours do this? My others never did -- Every once in a while they might sniff around in each others' crates, but they weren't going in their to conduct a raid.

My dogs all go in and out of the others crates if they can. Toys never stay anywhere unless I have them high and out of reach. Otherwise, all toys tend to belong to all dogs and may be destroyed!

Same here. All toys are fair game unless I say otherwise. Granted my dogs are separated most of the time -- they spend an hour in the morning together and about thirty minutes in the evening together, otherwise they only hang out when passing in the bedroom.
But they both have a crate downstairs and they'll both walk in the others crate to see what they can find -- they especially do this after food time since they both eat in their crates and currently they eat different food, although this will change sooner or later. I have a couple toys that are off limits to Sobacca. They are Minna's "fetch" toys that she really likes playing fetch with. I know Sobacca too well and as soon as he gets his teeth on them he'll make sure the squeaker and stuffing are pulled out -- and Minna doesn't care much for ripping toys apart, she gets bored with things quickly. |
