Default Proving 'Leave It'

Just alittle story from this morning. I'm busy multi-tasking. My 2 y.o. son got his hands on the bag of Frosted Mini Wheats and dumped the whole bag out on the kitchen floor in front of Boss, my Olde English Bulldog, and rescue beagle/sheltie/shepherd mix. All three dogs were lying down just before this happened. I gave the command 'leave it' as I scooped up the large pieces then ran for the vacuum cleaner...Boss did beautifully! He didn't even strain forward to sniff the tasty treats that were only about 3 inches from his paws! The other two were a bit off. They immediately jumped up and lunged for them. Flounder, the Bulldog, stood over them sniffing and drooling, and the beagle mix devoured as many as she could get away with! Need to add more cereal to the grocery list!
