Red face Phenix met this little girl...

and acted awesome!

Saturday night, I was about to go for a walk with Phenix, my bf and a friend.

Suddently and out of nowhere, a 10 years old girl came running and yelling at me "Lady, is this your dog?". I answered "Yes it is....". She than asked me if she could pet him. I was unsure. It was night (around 11hp.m.). I was afraid that Phenix could react baddly because, in general, he is more fearful at night and bark at strangers...No strangers ever pet him before...especially during night!

I took a quick look at him. He was relaxed, ears back, slowly breathing. I asked the little girl to come with me under a light, so Phenix could see us.

My bf came near us with Phenix on side. When Phenix saw her, he did nothing, he was only curious. He sat beside her. She started pettting him on the head (she had a very good energy, sure of herself), than on the back and....Phenix was in paradise!

She gave him a few hugs to which Phenix responded by a few kisses . She was in adoration! She told us she had a Labrador before, which she is missing so much.....she told us she like big dogs like our.

We remained there for a good 15 minutes while she was petting Phenix and Phenix was licking her all over lol.

I felt good. My boy seems to be very very good with kids. She was holding her head, giving him hugs, she was touching him everywhere....I wasn't sure at first, I was on guard and a little bit stressed, but he didn't make a single movement, nor a noise, nothing! He was sitting there, completely relax and enjoying the moment!

How is your dog with kids?

Good boy!

Sinister is really good with my nephews and my niece ages 2,5,10

He follows them and keeps his head down so they can pet him, he licks them and is very gentle with them.

All the kids in my neighborhood LUV Willow. They always come up and ask me if they can pet her. She does real well with them. I don't have kids myself so I am always watching carefully to make sure she behaves. The weird thing is a few months ago my mom, sisters and 2 of my nieces came to visit. One of my nieces (Emmalee) had just turned 1 and was just learning to walk. It bothered Willow when Em was crawling on the floor but not when she was standing up. When Em would crawl Willow would bark at her and then run. If she was standing up and walking/stumbling around Will was fine. It was kind of funny!

Sounds like a great experience... How are my dogs? Well, one hates kids, the other will put up with anything at all form strange kids and seeks them out. She adores them.

But throughout the story, I was thinking, what is a kid that age doing out at 11pm alone?

Yeah, that was my thoughts also....can't answered! She came out of a house near our...I think there was a party....But if I was her mom, I would never let her run in the streets at 11hp.m. to pet a strange dog lol!

Aww!! Molly and Tanner love kids! We live across the street from a daycare/elementary school and I will sometime walk them when the kids get out and the kids adore Molly and Tanner. Some parents call Tanner a "Gentle Giant".lol. Molly loves to give kisses.lol

Baron, our 2 1/2 yo male GSD, seems to love kids also. Our next door neighbors have 2 little girls 7 and 4 and he really likes to see them outside. And he was really gentle with a little toddler that a friend brought by one day.

most shepherds are great with kids as long as they are introduced properly, socialized and have not been abused or mistreated.
