I was sitting with aschen today and realized how amazing he is, and how much he makes me a better person. I've seen awful things and have been threw traumatizing events that have left me scared in life. Today, i looked into aschen's eyes and realized that he is my hero. He is an amazing dog, and clearly my best friend. When I'm down, he gives me hope. He knows when I am sad, and somehow pulls me out of it. He motivates me to keep me moving through life, and is my inspiration to get up everyday, no matter how hard it gets. He makes me so proud everyday he grows up and learns something new, that it sometimes brings tears to my eyes...
I just wanted to say that I now truly understand what it's like to have a heart dog...even though he's still young, not from any sort of fancy line, he might not be the prettiest dog, or a great working dog; he knows how to love me more than any friend, or pull me out of any sadness; better than any human could. He is so perfect to me. I just wanted to say thank you to my beautiful Aschen! You are my furry hero! I hope others could share their heart dog thank yous here!!! ![]()

First off, I am sorry that you have been through terrible things in your life
horrible things that happen somehow can make our spirits stronger. I think Aschen is ADORABLE, and I love his name. He looks like, and sounds like, an amazing dog and I can just see the love in his eyes! I am so glad you found your "best friend". I feel like I have found mine already with Jackson. Seems silly, but there's just something about him that makes me love him more than I have ever loved another dog, I have only had him for a few weeks and already don't know what I would do without him I'm so attached already

Beautiful stories. Here is mine...A few years ago we lost our GSD, Baer, at only 20 months. I contacted the breeder to let him know, and since no puppies were available, he told me he had three adult males, and offered one to us. We went to see the dogs, and I immediately felt a connection to one. He was a half brother to the one we lost....same dad, different mom. (I saw Baer when I looked into his eyes.) So now we have Max (and a female, Sadie.) Max brings me joy everyday, with his comical antics and the love he shows. While I miss Baer deeply, I am so glad he lead us to this wonderful boy. (That is grinning Max - my avitar pic.)

Beautiful story.
Here's mine: Sobacca is probably one of the best dogs in the world; he walked in our garage when he was only a couple of months old (poor guy!) -- so I really feel like he picked us! He had a rough life, we think somebody badly mistreated him because he would walk around with his tail tucked between his legs and his head down and he was skiddish of any new noise and of all men. It was very sad. But slowly he began to warm-up to us; it took about a month for his tail to really start wagging and for him to start showing us his wonderful personality (of course he had already stolen our hearts by this point). I spent all of my time with Sobacca and I trained him and house-broke him, so he really attached himself to me (even though there were four other people in the house). It took probably 1-1.5 years to get him to the point of confidence he's at now; and anybody that meets him would never guess that he was one skiddish and scared of anything. Sobacca and I have a very close bond, I would take him everywhere with me if I were allowed. He and I have a very close bond! -- people who have met him have even told me they can tell how close our bond is. He's probably one of the best dogs ever, he's sweet, affectionate, hilarious, de-stresses me, and is just amazing. I'm honestly not sure how I got through life before he came along, he just makes everything more enjoyable.

What a great story! hey are men's best friend for sure, they love without hesitation and without expectations.
I've been threw awful things too in my life....a few years ago, before I met my present bf and future husband , I loose hope and even though about suicide....first great thing was my bf who helped me like noone before. But since I have Phenix, I understand how much it's important to love life. They enjoy each moment, each second of their life, even when you are not kind with them. When I have a bad day or difficult moments, he is there, I can look at him and he makes me feel better. I'm like "Hey, forget about that, lets enjoy the present moment!!!"Seriously, he is amazing, like each of your dog. Take care of them because what they give you is priceless. |

I was just thinking this myself earlier today.
I've been going through a ridiculous amount of bad luck, and if it weren't for Odin's view on life and finding extreme joy in even the tiniest things (and insisting that I check it all out with him!) I really don't know what I would do. People come and go but i'm seeing now that a dog won't ever let you down, the worst they can do is pee on your rug, LOL :P

ok here it goes ( big sigh..lol)....My husband has been fighting leukemia since november of 09 and it was so unexpected when we found out. We have a house that we bought in Pa that we have been renovating for 2 years in order to just leave the hussle and bussle of nj by the end of 2010...well those plans came to a stop sadly. Then our wolf hybrid Chinook very suddenly just dropped one morning when I let him out. He was 13 yr old. We were devasted!
Well I work in an animal shelter and work 10-11 hours a day now that my husband is out of work due to his illness. One Day Raven came in and we connected like to old friends seeing each other!!! I kept saying I did not want another dog not for awhile but when Raven came along that was it. My heart melted!! She is my shadow...my bestfriend!! Goes anywhere and everywhere with me. I over heard my husband talking to Raven as they were both laying in bed a couple of nights ago....telling her 'I love you so much because you made your mommy so happy again". I guess that says it all...
