Default Rusti's hip dysplasia x-rays

Here is Rusti's hips. I was told by a friend they were some of the worst hips she ever saw. I was thinking of trying Adequan injections. I was wanting to get peoples opinion on if they think it would help her. Right now she is on Gabapatin and Deramaxx. I've had to quit giving the Deramaxx as she was having issues with constipation/diarhea and vomiting. So right now it is just the Gabapatin. I read that Adequan is very helpful but there has to be some cartiledge for it to work.

Wow!! How old is this dog?

Were the xrays done in response to symptoms the dog was exhibiting - I think these may be the worst hips I have ever seen

So sorry that your pup has to go through this.

Wow I've never seen anything like that before. The balls are huge and there is almost no socket. Your poor pup. I would think hip replacement or FHO surgery is the only thing that would help this dog. I'm assuming he is exhibiting issues. I'm so sorry.

This was another thread. Looks like Rusti is nine. And the spine. What does the vet say? I would consider acupuncture, cold laser, not sure I would do extensive surgery on a 9 year old with loss of muscle mass, personally. I would be inclined to keep her as comfortable as possible and let her go when the pain is too much.

I think Rusti has Degenerative Myelopathy

Yes, she will be 9 next month. She started having trouble getting up and was dragging one of her feet. She gets around pretty good other than that. She is showing signs of being in pain but it is less now that she is on the meds. Vet suggested accupuncture, swimming and some other physical therapy. She didn't mention Adequan though. Should I go for acupuncture instead of Adequan?

wow, poor thing! I would go for acupuncture, laser and water therapy if it's available in your area..I would also try the adequan.

Something to think about as well, how about getting her a 'cart'/'wheels'? This may help take some of the pressure off the hips as well, but still give her some mobility at times..
