Show me your dogs dark mask!
When Gunner was little and up until he was between 1 and 2 years old, he had a very dark mask.
It has lightened considerably. 16 weeks: http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...Picture062.jpg About 4 months old: http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...Gunner/002.jpg 7 months: http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...nner/001-2.jpg 1st birthday: http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...nner/004-3.jpg Around 1 1/2 years old: http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...nner/014-8.jpg 2nd birthday: http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...hday/050-1.jpg And now, at 4 yrs old: http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psa23f53af.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...012/009-10.jpg So, did you have a pup with a really dark mask? |

Ben looks alot like Gunner did at his age. Maybe it's like looking into the future. OK by me. Gunner looks great.

Zira had a nice dark mask too....
When we got her at 3.5months: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15..._8319917_o.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...a/IMAG0192.jpg 5 months: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15..._6333414_n.jpg 7months: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15..._7259597_o.jpg 1.5 years http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...a/100_0312.jpg and now (almost 2 years): http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15.../D3000/001.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15.../D3000/027.jpg She's MUCH lighter then she used to be. When we got her, she was almost all black. Now, she is a large saddle back with a bitch stripe and a good amount of tan in her face. I do miss all the nice black she had..... |

Ollie's pretty dark and has had very little color change since he was 8 weeks(granted he's only about 3 weeks shy of turning 5 months), in fact if you catch him at the right angle he looks bi-color, lol. Had a guy at the pet store not believe me that he is a GSD because of his coloring. :p His dam though is a solid black WL... I am noticing red hairs coming in on the bridge of his nose and in the right light I can see some red hair on the top of his head too. Very curious to see how he changes! I'll be a little sad if he loses his mask but mostly because that's just how I'm used to seeing now. :)

I think both my dogs have a pretty nice dark mask. Stark's head is my favorite though. ;)
