This Seriously made me cry! I hope one day I can relate...soon!
You will! Of course there's a lot of work involved initially, but after you form that bond and everything falls into place....it's a magical thing. Nothing compares
heheheh...yes! Beware.....that's how he tricks you! He has gotten more than his fair share of treats by using these dramatic methods!
wow....he has such a concerned look on his face...and what you wrote about your relationship with Whiskey was beautiful and had me all misty eyed..lol I'm such a sap.
Thank you. I love his empathy. He is always concerned about others. Once he retires from active IPO training, I want to get him certified as a therapy dog and start visiting some hospitals/nursing homes with him. The therapy clubs in my area refuse to let us in because he is intact and does bite training. Ridiculous criteria imo.
This dog has the heart to do this type of work. He FEELS things on a very emotional and heartfelt level. For example, we were at a 4th of July party yesterday. Whiskey came along of course and was hanging out near me getting some chicken scraps. There was this little girl in a full leg cast sitting by as the other kids were playing. Without any prompting on my part, he walked over there and sat with her the entire time. Didn't move at all. He just sat with her and let her fiddle with his ears/tail/face. She even put her hair clips on him. He never lets people mess with him head normally, but he was more than happy to do this. He feels emotions and wants to be a source of comfort. He's done this type of thing with other dogs and people. Whenever I foster or bring in a new dog, the new one will be spooked the first night. He will always spend the entire night sleeping by the new dog's crate. He's a trip
I am glad he's not my dog because I would be doing whatever it took to make his tail wag happily.. HAHA! He looks SO distraught.
hehe! Luckily, he is only troubled when someone is not feeling well. He's such a sap
