I spent $35 on the green slide and the rest of the materials I received at no cost. I couldn't really afford (at the present) to build a solid wood one, so I did the best I could. I hope with time, she will use it!

When a straight line is drawn from the point of ground to the point of the deck, you can see the slide is quite steep. Often you can find plywood scraps on Craigslist of Freecycle for very little, or free. Personally, I'd get some plywood scrap and attach it to the slides to even out the slope, as the red line shows. You should be able to put plywood on here for next to no cost.

Also- just an idea- the see through lattice may be enough for the dog to freak out, especially a dog that is loosing confidence in their footing as their strength goes. Perhaps draping a sheet over the lattice so that it isn't see through-- creating a "trough" so to speak- may give the dog more confidence in using the ramp.
