Jax had a reaction within just a couple hours. My friend's dog, who had a true anaphylactic reaction, was within hours of the shot. Just for the OP for info on a reaction.

I'm surprised the vet didn't put him on rimadyl or previcoxx for anti-inflammatory. Even tramadol for the pain. Personally, my vet doesn't like rimadyl. He's seen it send dogs into kidney failure.

And scarfish - you absolutely can "train" with it. It's all in how you use it. The stim can be a command just as a correction.
