Who was looking for SarTech II exam?
There is one in White, GA March 15-16th if anyone is interested.
|
Thanks for the heads up. Some of my teammates are looking and that is a reasonable distance!

I had almost given up hope that there would be one in the Southeast :-)! Most of the ones I had seen were in the Midwest or North.

I don't see it listed but I understand they may also be testing at the national conference in Myrtle Beach.
Don't forget to practice those silly playing cards...when I took my test we had never practiced it and had no book to prep or the objectives. So I had to retake that part. Aced the rest first time. It was easy with the cards the second time. |
From my info:
Dates: Mar 15, 2013 - Mar 16, 2013 Location: White, GA Instructor: Allen Padgett, Jr.Please contact Lead Evaluator Allen Padgett ON_ROPE@windstream.net (note underscore between ON and ROPE) to register, receive further information on directions, times, and evaluation preparation. I will practice the playing cards! |
They key I learned with the one using the compass was to use the walking stick-shoot bearing, place stick in ground, then cover section back to where you were, then back to the stick to make sure you stay on course. Not very real worldly but wound up with a 90% POD on my 2nd go.
The key to the one where you go out with a group is to try to be the guide person (I forget what it is called but the one who works the boundary). If the people next to you get off course and you are not the guide, you are SOL. And of course doing all the up/down/behind searching. They love to put them in trees and on the other side of logs so you have to cover your area. I thought the land nav was easy but for many that is the hardest. I never had FUNSAR before I took the test - think that would have helped -- we took an NC variant that really did not cover the objectives. |
