I cannot go into any details but he did well.
Then on the way back he turned into a true dog and found the biggest mud puddle he could to roll around in. Today at training, I figured he would rinse it off in a creek but no such luck. He apparently only likes to roll around in mucky muck, not clean water (though he did splash around)...so I guess tomorrow he is going to get a cold bath outside. Brrrrrrr.

Excellent, Nancy. Congratulations on true work well done, you have a lovely dog and it is great to see him do as he was meant to. Saluting you and Beau tonight, my friend.

Beau has been so easy to work with and it is great that my boss is very understanding (my job is the kind where I can catch up anytime since I work from home and a lot of my work is independant)..........It is really interesting to do.
Maybe it gets easier with a second dog ...... Grim was great for me as a first cadaver dog and it is a shame I had to retire him earlier than I would have liked.....but such is life. Beau is so easy with the scentwork but such a punk I have to stay on top of him obedience wise as he constantly pushes the limits. That is terrible about Stosh. I can't even imagine. Having a dog shot in the woods is a real fear we have but not from a neighbor.

No matter who they are and what they can do, deep down inside they are still dogs -- love the mucky mud puddle story.

Congrats Nancy! How rewarding to see all that hard work pay off. You must be so proud of Beau (muddy filthy coat and all).

We have woods between our properties and the neighbor said he thought Stosh was a wolf. A long-coated black and red wolf that barked...right. Luckily the bullet passed through just under his eye but it did permanently damage his nostril. So we switched to herding- who needs to smell those sheep anyway??
