Who would you recommend in hiring for SAR K9 workshops & seminars other than Bill Dotson? We'd love to have trainers come out to our County and hold a workshop and/or Seminars for us and a couple of different counties around us. Is there anybody else that you can recommend? Even somebody on here? I'd think LadyLaw what be somebody I'd love to have out here (if she is willing to do it), who else would be a good choice?

For trailing, I think you can't beat Chris Weeks -- he is in New Hampshire now and a several teams work with him on contract basis; we used to train with him once a month until he moved to New Hampshire but now we fly him down once a year for refresher. He also has considerable detection experience. The thing that sets Chris apart to me is that he is an excellent PEOPLE trainer-he expects the peanut gallery to follow each trail and he narrates what is going on. There is a nice article about him in the MESARD newsletter. You expect to get worn out when you train with Chris.
http://www.emainehosting.com/mesard/...winter2009.pdf Lisa Higgins is very good but hard to come by. She has a long history as does just about anyone with LiSAR in terms of HR and water search. Not so much contract training but for water cadaver she is a go to person as is Barbara Weakly Jones, retired ME Kentucky. Many people like Sharon Jones from Virginia for Air Scent.

I would love a trip once I finally retire
One of my handlers who is returing from Iraq might be a possibility. She is FEMA evaluator and handler for some time. Here is the problem. Training aids. I think TSA would frown on a couple of hundred pounds of....training aids ![]() Why dont you all consider a trip here for a seminar? I know it is expensive but no more so than flying someone over. I give seminars fairly frequently . We have boats, side scan sonar, etc etc. You could learn a lot here. There are some other folks who give seminars. contact me at LADYLAW203@aol.com and I will help advise you if I can. Be careful as there are folks out there that are not exactly what you need.............

Speaking of returning folks --- Kathy Holbrook with LETS -- I really like her. I know she went over there (I think Afghanistan? and is back). She helped us work on old graves and I thought was very good. She also does other disciplines.

Yep. I am pretty familiar with her. I am the one that goes over the resumes, evaluated the handlers and dogs, and certified them and sent them to Iraq
We no longer use independent contractors. I train all of the dogs and handlers are hired separately Yes, that is correct LETS allows civilians to be certifying officials

Here you go - up more that way - I would go but my next seminar needs to be in the Fall -
http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/sarex/class.pdf Lancaster PA. I know Linda Murphy and Lisa Higgins personally and they are doing the 3 day cadaver part but it looks like there could be something there for just about anyone on a team. Looks pretty well organized.
