Please keep in mind that there are those that train SAR, and those that actually do SAR. So when you are looking for a trainer, if you are serious you might want to keep that in mind. SAR is expensive and a major commitment. Dogs are frequently certified through government organizations like FEMA or Law Enforcement Agencies. A true SAR dog is comparable to a Police K9.
I would contact different organizations that are actively doing SAR and see if they can recommend people/places to start. Ike has progeny that work with this group...Might be a place to start. B.A.R.K - Bay Area Recovery K-9s Google also turned this up. Welcome (Public)
