The Nash Man (adopted from BDBH) and I are starting SAR training. We have gotten together with the group twice so far and Nash is doing awesome. We are working on drive building and were doing run aways with him. He is doing better each time. I just need to get better now, haha. I'm not used to using a long line and am very clumsy with it. I've already managed to get injured, the long line wrapped around my ankle and he pulled me down by it. My ankle swelled up but is getting better. Despite being stopped abruptly, once I untangled myself and told him to "go find" again he went to the person who did the run away. Its good to know that despite my inept handling abilities he can still do what he is supposed to! He has even been using his nose on the run aways even though he saw where they went!
His drive for the toy has gone way up in less than a week, which is awesome. He finally figured out that, yes, we want him to tug on the toy and now he really, really likes to play tug! Now I just need to teach him an out. I haven't taught him one because he always just gave things up. I've got to get some more formal obedience on him and work on drive building . . . and learn how to stay untangled.

Congratulations, welcome to the insane world of SAR. The best of luck to you both and here's looking forward to a k9 and human partnership unlike anything you have ever experienced.
