anything about where white GSD handler Beth Barkley is today?

One of the main reasons that I'm involved in SAR today is because I read a book back in high school about Barkley and her dogs and their search work (available on Amazon, written by Samantha Glenn and Mary Pesaresi). She started working SAR dogs back in the '80s and eventually went to San Salvador, Armenia and Oklahoma City, among others. I love that book and was just wondering if she is still involved in K9 SAR today. As far as I know, she has only handled white shepherds, mostly from Canadian breeders Joanne Chanyi and Sharon Mann. Anyone heard of her? Would love to know if she is still involved in the search world.

I'm not a SAR person but have been friends with Beth for many years. In fact I had Siri's brother, Yukon, and Czar's sister, Too. Czar's the dog on the cover of the book you're talking about.

She moved from Virginia and is now living on a farm in Michigan. She still has WGSDs, but is no longer active in SAR.

Hi Gayle, if you think she'd enjoy hearing from me, I'd love to send her an e-mail. I don't know how she felt about the book when it came out, but I thought it was very well written. I know some people who have books written about them are disappointed with the final product...sure hope that wasn't the case with Beth. Thanks for your help, and nice to "meet" you

It's nice to be active here again. I needed to take a break after losing Ringer and Kelly so close together - things posted on the boards were getting to me and I knew I needed to take a "board vacation" for a while.
