Default newbie needs help GA to NC

Hello,
I have never tried to rescue a dog from a shelter before, but saw this dog on the Urgent forum Newnam, GA ID: 0013833 Coweta AC Euth 4/8 . and fell in love. I am trying to get ahold of the shelter. The listing says that they do not adopt online or over the phone. I also need a temperatment test. I have two children (ages 9 and 7) a spayed GSD and two indoor cats. Then, if all is ok I need help getting him to me. Any advice woud be greatly appreciated.

He is so sweet, reminds me of my Sam. But doesn't have very long. Hope someone can save him.

This kind person wants him. They need help getting him out of the shelter and to their home. They are asking for help in transporting him.

They will give him a home!

Sorry I wasn't yelling at you, I was posting so the Transport help was more noticable, hahaha. I was confused by what you said "He is so sweet, reminds me of my Sam. But doesn't have very long. Hope someone can save him. " I thought you didn't know that the OP wanted him.

Sorry for the confusion

Well not exactly...first they need someone to temp test him with kids, cats, and other dogs.

IF he passes the temp test, then they need someone to adopt him because the shelter doesn't do online adoptions, and then someone to transport him. This is a tall order, because not transporting to a rescue means if they meet the dog and don't hit it off, the transport person runs the risk of being stuck with the dog that they just adopted from the shelter.

And here is the other problem, people, before facilitating a dog's transport anywhere, should have had a home check, reference check, etc on the person interested in adopting.

This has not been done to my knowledge.

Add that to the number of requirements for this dog - good with cats, kids, other dogs, if I were the OP I would not do it.

I would look for dogs closer, who had been evaluated and probably fostered in the same type of situation before doing this, unless I was extremely confident that I could deal with any issues that might arise from bringing an unknown into a family with those three things.

I just talked to the shelter and they have three people who want to adopt him. I left my contact info in case none work out. The person at the shelter couldn't tell me anything about him other than he was picked up as a stray. Guess I"ll wait for a few days to see what happens with Marlo before continuing on my search to add another GSD to my family. I have contacted the local GSD rescue, applied and had a phone interview, but stopped there because we couldn't make it to adoption days (only on weekends). They want all members of the family present and my husband works every weekend. They suggested that I try another rescue or find a GSD on my own. So, that is what I am doing. My vet is quite willing to give references and I welcome a homevisit. Thanks to everyone for replying and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
