Default Hartsville, SC 3 year Male

From Lisa:

I have been contacted by an individual in the Hartsville, SC area that is desperate for help. The owner of three dogs has discovered his mother is dying of cancer and he will be moving back to Canada this Wednesday, December 10. These dogs will be left behind in a very rural area outside a trailer he's been living in with no fenced yard. I am in contact with this man's neighbors who can continue to feed the dogs for just a short time but as this man has been unemployed and had very little funds they have already been providing food and are finding themselves running short for their own dog.

The male GSD (Jerry Lee) who is three years old also desperately needs a rescue to step up. I am told he is a little more aloof with people than Princess Abby. However, he does warm up if given a few minutes (typical GSD behavior). He is also good with dogs, both large and small breed. Cats are unknown.

Pregnant female (Princess Abby) thread:

Unfortunately, these babies have not been kept up on shots or heartworm preventative so their present health condition is unknown. They are all three unspayed/unneutered.

Please use me as a direct contact person as I am in touch with the neighbors to these dogs. I have had the owner sign a document relinquishing his rights to these animals so that will not be an issue.

Have to say this -- if you're unemployed and can't even take your dogs to the local HS/shelter, how do you get to Canada?

OK...after a dozen phone calls and begging, I believe we have this worked out....such a collaborative effort!!

VGSR has committed to all three (prego mom, young male and the senior collie that wasn't listed here but goes with the "package"). Big THANKS to them!!

Lisa is driving down to pick them all up (bless her for all these phone calls today, hope you don't get fired, LOL) and we have an awesome and brave volunteer who is going to temp foster all of them until transport. We are bringing supplies over to our volunteer, giving her a crash course on whelping just in case and will take pics tonight! I have a Christmas party with my boss' family but now have a good excuse to cut it short tonight to go see them all.

Also have a volunteer who is willing to drive them from Charlotte all the way to VA to the rescue!!! I can not tell you how awesome that is...fingers crossed we get her safely transported BEFORE whelping!!!!

This couldn't happen without so many wonderful people volunteering there time, cars and homes to help these poor souls who were abandoned for no fault of their own!! Thank you to each and every one of you! Most are members of this board but I will let them come forward if they want to!

Nikki (Nikkoli110), thank you for volunteering to foster them...what a kind and generous heart you have...wish you were closer! I think this option is the best for them, having a great rescue backing them and a shorter transport! But I have to say, PLEASE apply to foster with a local rescue, I think your home sounds great (at least on your app ) and you would be an asset to any organization!

These dogs are located in a county that gasses and if mama had been taken there and ended up having pups, they would have died for sure. That was certainly an option but one I asked the owner to avoid. His dying mother sent him money for a bus ticket and he is enroute now. I am ever so grateful to all that have helped put this together. I am leaving now to make three hour round trip to pick them up but will post pics and updates later.

The whole furry family arrived all wet and scared with a sopping wet Lisa in tow about 10pm last night.

It was almost only a save of 2 dogs as poor Jerry Lee didn't understand that Lisa was saving them and he bolted after he saw Princess and Koby loading into the car....I got a sad vm that she only had the two dogs and would have to go back for him in the daylight...but Lisa couldn't give up and turned around and tried again and was successful!

After much tugging and bribing with treats, they are all settled in, on soft spots probably for the first time. Koby (the collie) is about the sweetest old guy I've met and is so matted he will probably be bald after we work on him tonight. JerryLee, although the most apprehensive at first, quickly realized this was a good thing and climbed into his temp foster mommies lap for some loving!!! It was tooooo cute. Koby, not to be ignored, promptly tried to climb in too. All while she was trying to dry a soaking wet momma....jealousy is a powerful motivator

Momma is pretty miserable and HUGE....but she is very sweet and was very happy to have some good treats...she snuggled in next to Koby after all the whoopla and picture taking.

We got lots of pics, but got home too late to download...will download after work today!

Mods, please move to Where Are They Now!
