Hi All,
Yam update: Overall they are doing very well, more used to the house and company. Honey/Cinnamon is just starting to bond a little more with me. Mara/Sugar is still very scared and distant until it's bedtime. I always find her snuggling with me when I wake up. Honey is just a silly nut, bouncing around like Tigger and hoarding all the bones, toys, socks, and who knows what else on her bed. (They have 3 beds including the one they let me use....) I love them to pieces but it's a little sad not having that doggy unconditional love and trust that's the usual. However, I have no doubt I will wear them down and I DID know this is how it would be. It's just sad these little ones had become so un-dogitized. I have accepted a new job in Portland ME which will allow me to work from home a few days a week and my 2 hour daily commute will drastically decrease. This will be great and give the yams and I more time to be together. As you may have noticed a friend renamed the yams Cinnamon and Sugar, which makes them, wait for it.... The Spice Girls! I sense an identity crisis in the making.... Updated pics are on their way.... |

I just love reading your updates. You are a very clever writer! The girls sound wonderful and happy. I actually think they're are doing amazingly well for what they've been through. Yep, we need more pics! This is such a heartwarming story...
The spice girls...

THE SPICE GIRLS!!! OMG.....Too Funny!
As I've said before, rescuing them is only part of the story. The best part to me is the wonderful adopter (Sandy) who has taken them and loved them unconditionally. They will be all that they can be, with her love and devotion to them. I just love these girls!

Just a quick note and I'm sorry it's not more... I'm in the middle of trying to sell my house, pack, and relocate to Maine.....
The yams continue to cause much laughter and joy, so many funny little stories like when Honey farted so loud it scared the heck out of them and they both sprinted from the room.... they are doing remarkably well, coming along like champs, we've had our ups and downs, they had a tough time when we lost power, water, and heat for several days because of an ice storm and all had to relocate for a couple of days but did OK and were happy to be home wheneverything came back on! I guess what I'm trying to say is all in all they are my yams and I love them to pieces! (and I'd like to think they feel the same way)

Sandy, no doubt they love you as much as you love them. Wish you had time to tell more stories, because they always make me laugh. This is one of the very best rescue stories. You were all so lucky to find each other, and the path it took to get to that point is just unbelievable. Happy 2009 and hope your move is easy and problem free!
