URGENT - Kansas City, MO, "Bella" spayed/f 2 y/o

Bella is a 2 year old black/tan purebred GSD in need of help. Our small, all-volunteer rescue pulled her from a local "kill" shelter, only to find out that she is cat and dog-aggressive. Bella is WONDERFUL with humans, very smart, very attentive... but also very high energy. Her foster home had to give her up because she attacked the family cat, and then a family dog (a large, mixed-breed neutered male.)

Bella is temporarily living in a dog boarding kennel and she is NOT thriving. She is pacing and jumping, exhibiting frantic and frenzied behaviors. She did not behave this way in the foster home. She was active and energetic, but not frenzied in this way.

She needs a home PRONTO (or a GSD rescue) that has a place for her with no other pets. She needs a home with GSD-experienced folks, who will work with her daily to expend her endless energy! Bella is crate-trained probably 90% housetrained. She is gorgeous and sweet with humans, and we must find a way to help her. But staying in the boarding kennel will NOT work for her, and all of our volunteers have multiple pets. We will not consider sending her back to the pound that she came from. We're told that she had been in two prior homes, and both of them gave up on her (for unknown reasons.)

Bella knows "sit," "down," "roll over," and "come." She is food motivated but she also "works" just for praise. She walks well on-leash, as long as no other dogs/cats are nearby. She is not interested in fetching or playing ball.

She's pretty, but she looks more like a sable than a blk/tan (I'm sure the sable folks can assess better than I can) Also probably has a high working/prey drive.

Thanks Jmarks for help with the photo! SouthernThistle, thanks for the coloration comment. If she's a "sable", that sounds fine to me!

I hope there is help out there, somewhere, anywhere, for this sweet girl. I hate to see her distressed in the kennel environment. She's getting as much one-on-one time as possible, long walks, extra playtimes... but what she really needs is a home or foster home.

Oh, no Bella! We just saw her at the Dogtoberfest event a couple weeks ago (we were right next to your tent)...I have several pics of her if you would like them I talked with her foster and she was so good around all people and dogs that day?? My mom has been looking and was interested in Bella so we chatted for a bit.

Have you talked with Nancy with MOGS?? She might have some good foster refs. I know of one in particular that is great with GSD's but she just took another foster recently.

I can speak with her if you want (Nancy)...I wish we could take her to foster my husband loved her! But we also have 2 GSD's that are young.

Absoulutly heartbreaking. Yup. High drive. Someone did not know what they were doing and bought a dog they could not handle. The breeder did not back up the buyer, then next home, next.. These dogs need special help. A very special person that can help them. I am glad we have good breeders on this forum that understand GSD's that are driven.
She needs a Good trainer. To put that energy where it needs to go.

I hate to see this. She is gorgeous.
Have you talked to MOGS Steph? They helped Striker he was aggressive in with crating. I think a Platte City woman fostered him. I hope they can help. I am sorry this is to much for you, I or your parents for sure.

Yes she's a gorgeous sable. Those working line dogs are my favorite. No breeder with any ethics would place that type of dog with an inexperienced owner. Seems that sables only used to be popular among the working dog people while the pet folks preferred America's idea of the more traditional looking GSD. Apparently they are now becoming more popular due to the fact they are different, so more are being bred by irresponsible breeders just for the sake of the almightly dollar. How sad.

Please there has to be Sable people out there that can help her. Does anyone know people in Sch., from training or breeders threads that can help this girl??
She cannot be left to pace around in boarding, that is not fair.

I just saw there is another urgent Sable in GA too, that was probably used to breed.
