Yes I've been reading a whole lot about working lines...
They feel that this being my first pure bred GSD, that bella might be a lot to take due to her instability in regards to her dog aggression and such...So we are still taking about Bella and the option of another GSD that might need resuce came up, and they cant take him due to having to many dogs at the shelter...I'm willing to help save which ever one they think will fit me best. I trust you guys and I just want to give a good life to one of these GSD's....I know they'll be a great companion... I've worked with pitbulls before and I kept one for a friend of mine for about 7 months. Lets just say she was a very well mannered girl..When I was a child, my brother had a GSD/chow mix and he was very intelligent....Huge prey drive.... So I'll keep you guys in the loop on what happens....Thanks for checking up on the situation....

I am SO sorry. I know the rescue is only thinking of you and Bella. Wanting her to have a forever home and a right fit. This is my concern for this girl, her drive, plus aggression, does not make her just any GSD. I know there is someone out there with experience with these types of GSD's that will step and help her, IF not Just training her, redirecting her energy so she can go to another home. Did her thyroid and health check out? You have a just the best heart for hanging in there for another one. I hope you have one soon.

Hey guys: UPDATE!!!!
Just wanted to let anyone know that is following this that their is some potential great news. Bella had her vet visit and her free T4 came back LOW Her CBC and chemistries were normal. I know this would seem not good, but thyroid probelms are know to cause different behaviors in dogs. And with Bella's apparent somewhat sudden onset of dog aggression and sometimes frantic behviors, this COULD BE THE CASE!!! Here is a link on thyroid issues if anyone is interested. http://doglinks.co.nz/health/aggr_theroid.htmThere is alot more info out there as well. So keep your fingers crossed! She is a sweet girl. Michelle is picking up her thyroid meds tomorrow!! I think this is an excellent example of how thinking of things one might not think of when it comes to a dog behavior (medical causes) can benefit them so greatly. Lets hope this is the case with Ms. Bella!

Blatallic,
Just wanted to mention that I have worked with the Austin German Shepherd Rescue before (our dog Allie is from there) and they are great people. Emoore, who was helping you out above, is involved with them as well ![]() Check their website...they have beautiful dogs and it is closer for you too! http://www.austingermanshepherdrescue.org/ Don't give up on GSD's! I am sure you will find the right one out there.
