![]() Shyla is a 4-5 year old female GSD. She is very sweet and loving. She was evaluated by both me and myamom. I had my 9 year old neutered male shep/lab mix and myamom had her 9 year old spayed female GSD. Which she was fine with both. She was also around cats and seemed to be fine. I even had her at my house for a day (dog sitting) and she was very good. She does need some work on leash walking and a few other things. All in all I think she will make someone a great companion, to any experienced GSD owner. The owner also has a 11 year old boy and a 8 year old girl which she was good with. This dog needs to be re-homed ASAP as the owner is a huge idiot and has a past of dumping dogs for no reason. She had a male last year who she let die of bloat because she had to give her kids lunch instead of rushing him to emergency. This woman is making me sick. This dog has had no stability in it's life and this owner has only had her for 3 months and then she was sent to humane society because the owner went to jail. Then she got the dog back and all these issues started. She said she has jumped through a broken window and jumped a fence. I would do that also to get away from this crazy situation. This poor dog really needs to be saved soon as the owner is threatening me to bring her back to the humane society. This owner has recently gotten a new GSD puppy and will be dumping her into the shelter today. In my opinion this person knows nothing about owning a GSD and should NOT have her or any dog for that matter!! Anyone interested in this sweet girl can pm me. Thanks, Karen

Here's the story...the "owner" is a jerk. She has a looooong history of acquiring and dumping dogs. SASRA has already taken two from her in the past (a 4 year old and a 2 month old). I personally took another one...the 5 day old I posted on here a while back. She has also dumped various other dogs.
This dog was given to her by someone....and now she is dumping her BECAUSE she just got a NEW GSD PUPPY....5 weeks old. (we'll be seeing that puppy coming through the rescue system soon as well I'm sure). So...now she is adamant that she get rid of Shyla. Shyla was with her for 3 months with no issues. After her stint at the shelter...she did display some anxiety issues...and jumped through an open window (the owner lives in a run down house and the window was broken...thus an opening...no...the dog did not break the window). She supposedly also jumped a fence. She has subsequently calmed down again. Due to the new puppy...you know...out with the old...in with the new....this person is adamant she must go. She has been being kept crated almost 24/7...thus quite frankly...I don't blame her for trying to escape a few times....I would too. She is very sweet...I personally evaluated her when she was staying at the shelter. Kate the manager liked her as well. She got along with my female with no incident what so ever. What this girl needs is a STABLE LOVING HOME FOR ONCE IN HER LIFE. I am so heartbroken for this dog. PLEASE...I would be so grateful if some rescue would consider her! Thank you! She is going back to Lackawanna County Humane Society today...probably already there.

Hopefully someone can get her and show her what a REAL home is like.I feel bad for the puppy too. It's going to have all kinds of issues in a home like this not to mention they got it WAY before the pup should have ever been taken away from mom and it's litter. |

the puppy is left loose in the home while she's not home...and is already showing growling behavior...mark my word...we'll be seeing that puppy in the future....
SASRA took a 2 month old from her that she didn't want because she said he had issues......and also he didnt' look enough like the gsd she had lost due to bloat........ and people wonder why poor Shyla tried to run away........... Please................. (the puppies are coming from a byb here that just keeps continually breeding them...and selling the puppies way too soon - even telling the people that get them NOT to vet them until they are 8 weeks so she won't get in trouble...and many are sold for a package of steaks, etc.......I know of 6 litters already...and there are always puppy losses as mom and pups are never vetted... but that is a whole other story....this group of people is just bad news all the way around.....)

yes...unfortunately they are. They really care and try...but it's overwhelming. I just recently eval'd Balthazar there.
I'm not sure how long she will get...it varies... This will be the 2nd time she is being dumped at this shelter within the past month...I worry for her...as after her last stay she showed alot of anxiety....... There has been way too much upheaval in her life in this short period and thus why I stress all the poor girl needs is someone to give her love and stability for once in her life.

Yes, it is a kill shelter. This is the same shelter she was at the first time. The manager Kate evaluted her and loved her, but she might not show well after all this being bounced around. She was there only a few days, but giving the situation she is going through we don't know what can happen. We can only hope someone can help her. Please, anyone?
