Great idea. It's difficult to find suitable working homes for working-line dogs sometimes.

Wonderful idea for a thread Jean!!!

Other than Grace, none of my working lines rescues have gone on to work, but all are much beloved family members and definitely demonstrate that working lines dogs ARE to be found in rescue. And these are just the ones I've had or fostered in the last 2 years.

Grace - My beloved wondergirl. Given up by several owners before 1 year of age, proclaimed unstable and unadoptable by Sue Sternberg while she was melting down in a rescue kennel. We were on a SAR team before moving to KY. I wish we'd been able to continue. Her ball drive - not to mention drive to round up all lost people-sheep in the woods is second to none.

Lookin' pretty good for 8 years old!

Griffin - is a long term foster due to severe abuse in his original home. Wonderful toy drive but still working through the baggage.

Anya - Pedigreed Mittelwest Schutzhund line dog. Scheduled to be PTS by her owners because she would jump up and grab people's sleeves and pantlegs in play so they thought she was "aggressive."
Now lives happily in the Catskills with a former board member.

The dynamic Duo - Zia (left) now lives with a former police dog trainer and Zelda (right) with an active couple who own land along a river - lots of swimming for the water baby!

Dahlia - recent foster who showed up as a stray in OH. Now bikes and sails with a couple in KY.

Rafe - Current foster from the urgent board and Gastonia NC. Gorgeous sweetheart currently trying to climb into my lap

And this ridiculously gorgeous block headed beauty - collected from the Harlan shelter yesterday. Not sure where he'll wind up but he's a beauty with a personality to match!!! I'm still working on getting his pedigree but I think he's either working lines or German Show.

18 months old - reason for surrender? "He still acts too much like a puppy."

Holy Schmoley! From Harlan huh?

I know there are more, too! Can't wait to see some of them posted. These are beautiful dogs and just goes to show that they are not the "oddities" that people think they are in terms of needing rescue.
