A very quick notes. A few weeks ago I found an urgent post in this board regarding two German Shepherds that were scheduled to be euthanized. There names on the post were Harley, whose 17 year old owner had comitted suicide, and Hogan/Enzo.
I asked my rescue group to consider taking the dogs. They did, and to date the results are very positive. The first, Harley, is a hugh dog, at only six months old. The scond, Hogan, is a ten month old Purebred GSD, that appears to be in perfect condition. I tend to think he was a runaway. The dogs were dropped off at a fellow rescue person that suggested I take Hogan. When I met Harley, I thought my lord, she is right. Harley is to tough for anyione to handle. But the bottom line is Harley is doing quite well and will be adopted. Hogan is one of the most beautiful German Shepherds I have ever seen, and has found a good home. So for those that want to rescue a dog, there are plenty of good ones available. |

Thank you for your hard work, Timber1, and thank you for posting a follow-up on these two dogs.
I'm very glad to learn that they are both on their way to happy lives in good homes.

I remember these two dogs and the sad situation they were both in, especially Harley.
I'm glad your rescue gave them the chance for a new life that they so deserve. Thanks for updating us, & also for fostering Hogan.

Harley was the tough one, younger by bigger at six months. A lady named Cathy has Harley and he is doing very well. Franly, I was pleasantly suprised at the wonderful progress Harley has made.
I have Hogan, and he is the best looking GSD I have seen in a long time. Unlike most rescues, Hogan is neither shy, nor fearful. He just goes about his puppy business. Hogan is gong to his final home on Saturday, and although non-aggressive, I am sure he will bond and be protective toward his new family. I guess you can tell I will miss Hogan, more then my other rescues. As for the rescue boards, I wish we could adopt more. Hogan and Harley were only the number 2 & 3 dogs that came from those boards. Not there is not a need, but my group is absoltely inudated from humane societes that want us to take there dogs. I could name the worst states in the US and some of the most unfunded humane organizations, but then the moderator would tell me I am in trouble again, and lord knows the responses I get from the states that have to transport their dogs to us. |
