HI, we currently have 2 spayed female shepherds at our shelter that we need assistance in placing. Due to the circumstances we will only release them to an approved rescue group who is willing and able to keep these dogs in a foster home only until an adoptive family is found. They can not be in a kennel any longer.
Sage I'm a young lady who has a lot of energy! I'm a true herding dog, and I need a job to keep me busy - I won't be the docile family dog who just hangs out in the yard all the time. I love to snuggle, but I can be suspicious of new people at first (German Shepherds are guard dogs). I've had a lot of training already, but I was still too much for the family that had me since puppyhood. I need to find the right home this time, preferably one with no cats, and kids age 10 and up. I have a condition known as hip dysplasia, so I need someone who is willing to continue my treatment. I'm 1 1/2 years old, and I'm spayed and housebroken. Please come visit me! Sage is constantly pacing in her kennel and is now showing signs of pain from her hips. We are currently treating her with Rimadyl and cosequin however we fear she is doing farther damage to her joints every day she spends here. She is a high drive shepherd and needs an owner who can keep her busy and safe. She loves to snuggle with people once away from the building but is not easily distracted from her barking and pacing inside the kennel these days Timber - 8-9 years old Timber spent most of her adult life living in filthy conditions at a kennel with an estimated 60-70 other dogs. She rarely had a chance to be walked or taken indoors and we have very little background info on her. Timber was adopted from us but then turned into aother shelter because it was discovered she is not housetrained and can easily escape the average fence when not entertained or directly supervised outside. We quickly brought her back to our shelter but have not been able to rule out a medical issue as a cause for the housetraining issue. She is very sweet and gentle but should go home with older kids only as she does like to play chase in the yard and sometimes nips at younger/smaller children out of play. She has shown absolutely ZERO signs of aggression while with us. Again, these 2 lovely ladies will ONLY be released to a rescue that can provide an appropriate foster home and rehabilitative services until a new owner is found. If you think you can help please let us know by August 7th -- Rachel Frock Assistant Director of Operations Humane Society of Baltimore County ![]()

Hmm... showing pain from HD- and STILL too much for her family? It sounds to me they didnt want the vet bill... BUT that could be just me getting fed up with people who are supposed to be treating their fur kids like REAL family...

I'm guessing they didn't want the vet bill for treating the HD, too.
For pity's sake, they made it though Brat Stage and she wasn't "too much" for them! You're not going to tell me that NOW she's suddenly become more goober than she was at 9 months of age! Beautiful dog, though. |

Have you contacted teh VGSR ( Virginia German Shepherd Rescue) ? Here is their link. Being in Baltimore, they may have a foster as all of Northern Virginia is easily connected.. Its worth a try.. http://www.shepherdrescue.org/pages/links.html
