Logan is the senior in Long Island who was being fed rice by the druggie who bought him at the pound. When she decided that she was done waiting for a rescue and he was going back last weekend, I stopped cross posting and started adopting. I had been thinking about having room for a senior dog. I was actually thinking about a pit bull since I just lost mine to cancer, but here came a skinny scared GSD with a face that would melt any heart. He's currently laying behind me working on a old hollow bone I filled with peanut butter.
He's winning over my 4 girls having learned that "yes dear" is THE answer to give to a bitch. He's rail thin, but I'm going to have to be careful about him gaining too much weight. His breeding is poor and his hips are very narrow and rickety. I put him on 1400mg glucosomine/chondroitin twice a day. He goes to the vet on Monday and she will determine our course of action. Meanwhile he's settled in and is a happy boy.![]()

The folks who take in seniors all have HERO status in my book. Thank you so much for helping this needy soul. May your kindness be rewarded ten-fold.

Oh I'm no hero for taking in a senior. I prefer seniors. My girls are 14, 8 and two are 6 years old. I love to snuggle pups and then hand them back to their guardians, the same as I like to do with human babies. Give me that laid back, bomb-proof, world-wise personality any time. My goal is no more young dogs. Too many seniors need homes and there is something very satisfying about seeing an old dog sprawled on a comfy bed sleeping peacefully. I'll trade that for puddles on the floor and chewed furniture any day...especially since my furniture is still tattered from the last bored pup I had.
