I have always felt that a rescue dog has a different love and bond between their rescuer.
Before I got Salem, I had only walked through the shelter and visited the dogs and puppies there, feeling like I could do nothing to help. When I got Salem in May, I was 19 and able to sign the paperwork. When I saw him, I knew that he was the one to be saved, even if it was only to foster him (guess that didn't work out to well )I just remembered this and wanted to share. A few days after I adopted Salem, I took him to our Maltese-Bichon mix's dog groomer. I rented a station and got to work. Normally I wouldn't do this, but I felt we had a special bond; I was pretty much "up in his grill," with my face and body near his face as I attempted to wash him (He would often try to sneak off of the table during washing). Even when I got close and brushed in while drying him, he never was uncomfortable with me. This must have been a new experience for him, especially with someone he barely knew! So, do you have any special rescue bond stories you would like to share? I have so many when it comes to Salem!
