The Love of a Rescue

I have always felt that a rescue dog has a different love and bond between their rescuer.

Before I got Salem, I had only walked through the shelter and visited the dogs and puppies there, feeling like I could do nothing to help. When I got Salem in May, I was 19 and able to sign the paperwork. When I saw him, I knew that he was the one to be saved, even if it was only to foster him (guess that didn't work out to well )

I just remembered this and wanted to share. A few days after I adopted Salem, I took him to our Maltese-Bichon mix's dog groomer. I rented a station and got to work. Normally I wouldn't do this, but I felt we had a special bond; I was pretty much "up in his grill," with my face and body near his face as I attempted to wash him (He would often try to sneak off of the table during washing). Even when I got close and brushed in while drying him, he never was uncomfortable with me. This must have been a new experience for him, especially with someone he barely knew!
