I didn't ask his previous owner about his breeding, though I know he had him since he was a puppy. I'm assuming he was purchased from a breeder, you don't often find sables in pet shops. And he certainly looks better bred than a pet shop dog. He's pretty big, I'd say 80-90 pounds and he could use a bit of weight.

I have to try to get some conformation shots. So far he won't let me walk away without being attached to my hip! lol

His previous owner didn't seem to GS savvy. I am very curious about his breeding!

Is there a way you could ask for more info? Just out of curiosity.
I have two GSD's without the pedigree info and it is so frustrating to want to know, and know that someone somewhere could help me, but people don't seem to think it is of importance.
I helped a guy who adopted a beautiful neglected dark sable get the history on his boy. The dogs dam was my dogs littermate, so I had lotsa pics and such, no pedigree of course.
He really didn't care at the time, but I thought what the heck, if he could get some pics of his pups mom,dad/grandmom and siblings along with a bit of background, in the future he may change his mind and I would not be able to be contacted.

I found my shepherd on craigslist too. The people had no information about his breeding or his parents or anything, appearantly they weren't interested in any of that when they got him? They gave us a business card to contact the breeders but we were never able to get ahold of them, so it's impossible for us to find anything about his history.

He's gorgeous. I'm confused as to why you don't know why they were giving him up since you adopted him directly from them. Didn't you ask why they were getting rid of him?

WOW! What a great find! He's beautiful! Good thing he got a good home....when people give their pets away on craigslist, there's no knowing where they will end up. Cheers to the both of you!!!!

More photos, please.

This is a great testament to encourage people to get older dogs. If I had a choice, I would never get another 8 week old puppy again. (Probably won't anyway at my age.)
