Default Big Boy in Camden/Blackwood Shelter N.J.

Subject: [NewJerseyAnimalRescue] happy tail from GSD from Camden

Hello everyone. I'm very excited and am writing you to introduce the newest member of the Nicholls pack!

He's 7 years old, 126 lbs, a purebred, and as handsome as they come. We got him from the Camden County animal shelter. He's our new 'Big Boy' AKA family guard dog
.

We are naming him 'Guinness', which probably does not come as a total surprise to y'all! Like our favorite beverage, he's mostly 'black' with a little 'cream', and he's 'stout', hence the nomenclature. And wildly enough, his name has a double 'nn' in the middle, and a double 's' at the end, similar to the consonants in our late, beloved 'Finnbarr' and to 'Nicholls'. (He didn't have a real name, just his shelter name of Bear. Every dog deserves a good name of his own!)

He is a gentle giant, but very devoted and protective. He and Boca get along fabulously, and there may even be a hint of romance between them, at least as far as Lady Boca is concerned. She's basically smitten by him! It took me a long time to find him, but he's perfect for us. And it's the end of a long journey for him, to end up here in his forever home with his forever family. He's going to be a very happy boy once he gets settled in.

I'll send or post more pictures as we get them. He needs a big soapy bubble bath, and some serious de-shedding and brushing. Between Lucy, me and an extra large kiddie pool I think we can handle it :~)

So, that's the news from the Yellow Meeting House. Take care everyone, Karen

THIS IS A VERY HAPPY TAIL, ALL GROUPS SHOULD WORK TOGETHER TO SAVE ANIMALS..IN NUMBER THEIR THERE IS STRENGTH. however it seems SOME groups do not go 'out of the box' its not about anything but the animal being saved!! Jen Solomon

I"m not sure who this is pointed at but some groups won't work with others for many reasons. Mostly because the other groups are not reputable or have had trouble in the past, i.e. dogs have gone missing, home visits aren't done, references aren't checked, have shadely tried to pull from a shelter under another rescues 501c3 paperwork, etc. So to imply that it's not about the animals for these groups that won't work with others, well...that just isn't true and it is completely out of line.
