I was looking for an update too. I bet the pups are keeping her busy as they get more active.

Hello All,
Pups and Nadia are doing wonderful :-) They are headed for 5 weeks, already! Officially, they are 4 weeks and 4 days... They are ACTIVE and healthy, happy babies. They are constantly learning and it is so wonderful to watch. Their teeth have all come in - they love to romp and play and have started to discover how toys work. I feel really lucky bc everyone is doing so well. I have a really great litter, folks... everyone seems to be developing nice, even temperments and that makes me really happy. It is what I have been striving for. I want them to be as comfortable and as stable as possible when they leave me. Katie and Clover (my little green guy) are the quietest, but I say that in the lightest sense bc they are not shy to the point where it is painful and still seem to be pretty confident. None of the pups are too reliant on the others... you will catch them all sleeping apart and doing their own thing every so often. Also, I have been working with them each, by themselves, everyday so that they develop some security outside of the pack. This helps them get used to other smells, people, and animals. As far as size, Jazz is still by far the biggest at just over 6 pounds followed by Miller at 5 lbs 12 oz and Kozie at 5 lb 10oz. Everyone else is mid 5 pounds except Katie who is still tiny at just above 4 lbs. The good thing is that everyone is developing at a nice, even rate. Katie is small but not unhealthy - she is just smaller in stature... always has been, probably always will be :-) They are all eating food, now and slowly starting to ween from Nadia. They looks like a little colorful pinwheel of puppies when they eat due to their colorful collars. They eat 2x a day - moist Wellness puppy food, with some wet food, and 2nd state formula mixed in. Nadia nurses, as well. They are all hearty eaters. I introduced the water bowl the other day and it cracked me up! Have to be careful with that water bowl as they all like to play in it and on top of that, they often try to "sniff" the water which doesn't work to well for them. LOL Someone actually pooped in the water dish the other day when I had my back turned... not sure who the offender was, but it was sort of funny. LOL When not playing with them and laughing at something silly they have done, I spend my time CLEANING - cleaning, cleaning, cleaning - ALL DAY LONG! LOL Poop and pee, everywhere... LOL Anyone that thinks raising puppies is easy or looking for a quick buck are crazy! I will say that as much work as this is, it is all that more rewarding... they make my heart melt everyday... they make me smile and it has been so interesting to watch them grow, develop, and learn. All my pups are amazing and Nadia is the BEST mom, ever! Let's hear it for her for putting up with them, their TEETH, and sharp nails - them trying to get into her food bowl - to the best cleaner of them all... to being cautious and protective with her pups, but not overly so and never with people... for retaining a sweet and lovely disposition in spite of everything - what an amazingly good girl!!! Anyway, that is all for now folks... I need to take more photos and will post later this week! Also, I am thinking of fostering some of the pups beyond 8 weeks which means a few of them will stay here and be adopted out with the security of GSRA's adoption policy. Nadia will also be staying with me until we find her a perfect forever home. I am so excited. I know I will not be able to part with all of my babies and I just feel that it will be a little more rewarding if I can find homes in the local area when they are old enough as I will have a better chance of seeing them later on in life. I would like to see them at 6 months and at 1 year. It would be amazing to look at them and think, "I remember when..." More Soon, folks! Alisa Last edited by alisagirl127; 02-15-2010 at 12:24 AM. |

It sounds like they...and you...are doing great. It is so delightful to read your updates. I don't know how you're ever going to be able to part with them. Can't wait to see the 5 week old pictures.
