Camp Wolfgang near Dallas (Ennis, TX) is closing. Last day in service will be 10/30/2009. They have 198 GSD's there as of this morning, down from >400 earlier this year.

The closing is a decision that was difficult, but it is made. So, they are not asking for donations, rather they MUST move the dogs out. They will have NO choices with any dogs that remain when the date comes.
Time is of the essence.

If you know anyone who can adopt, accept a dog into their rescue, or help in any way, contact Neisha Livengood, kennel master at Camp Wolfgang.

Neisha can be reached at:

personal email: windigo1966@ yahoo.com

phone: 214-755-1627.

Camp Wolfgang General Address <campwolfgang@yahoo.com>
Physical Address: Camp Wolfgang, 6234 FM 879. Ennis, Texas 75119

Thanks for posting, Vicki. This is beyond sad. These dogs were safe and now their lives are in danger. I can't imagine how this many GSD's can be absorbed into the already bursting at the seams rescues. There are also a lot of mixed breeds.

We've sent the information out to every rescue we can think of, but everyone is so full... I wonder if anyone has contacted Best Friends to see if they can help? It would have to be someone with Camp Wolfgang that would need to contact them.

This is a tragedy. They took in many lost cases. Are there any descriptions of the individual dogs?

What happened to Camp Wolfgang? Why are they closing?

Have they been reaching out to rescues before now? Not much time to work with.
My stomach is actually turning thinking about the possible fate of so many GSDs and other puppers.

as i understand it the owner (wally?) is not well, and the costs too great, with donations being down because of the bad economy. it is a tragedy for these dogs.

Yes, this is what happened. the son took over I think, they are not getting the donations anymore or adoptions.
If someone can help with transports to the NE and East of Texas please let Niesha know. her e-mail is in my post. we have people that can help these dgs but no transport :-(

Heartbreaking - Camp Wolfgang was a refuge for so many dogs over the years. Must be terrible for Wally and his family too, to have to give it all up.....prayers for a miracle are needed....
