Awww.... glad your fostering him. I remember seeing a post on him in the Non-Urgent section awhile back. He is beautiful, please let us know how it goes. I wonder how he will do with other dogs... poor baby!

I remember this boy...I believe I posted him in nonurgent a long time ago after his attack.

Thank you so much and good luck!

Poor guy has been waiting a long time.....

so, if he's still in need of a foster home by next weekend - we're going to go down and meet him. i asked a little more about his behavior with other dogs... he seems to have recovered from the fear surrounding his attack, but this is part of an e mail i got back today...

He is doing better with other dogs now that he is not afraid. The one thing is that when he gets attached, he gets jealous. as long as you head that off he is fine.

any suggestions to "head that off"?
i try to give everyone equal attention, but you know how that goes, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. if he growls or nips at Gia that will be a problem.

his age is also now estimated to be 8 instead of 5 so he'll likely be a long term foster which is more reason to make sure everyone has their 'issues' worked out.

thanks in advance.

He is very cute. What you describe sounds like resource guarding. It happens with people and not just objects. I physically prevent it from happening. So i don't let the resource guarder have that kind of access to me and if they try guarding me by growling, etc. I simply step in between the two dogs (to keep it from happening) and ignore the guarder. So, in other words, I give them exactly what they don't want--no attention from me. If it's a major issue then I crate the guarding dog and reward them in the crate for good, quiet behavior.

Wow, what a cute teddy bear of a dog! It's wonderful that you're thinking of fostering on a regular basis. I hope it works out!
