Merry Christmas to all my fellow rescue folks on this board.
I hope you (and your dogs) all have a wonderful holiday, filled with all things good. Yesterday afternoon I picked up an eight year old male GSD that had been dumped at the Montgomery County Animal shelter. He spent his life in a crate on the porch, or in the basement. They indicated he had vision problems - it appears that he is VERY sight impaired. If he was a person, I would put him in the legally blind category. Yesterday was rough - he has not been socialized with dogs and we really had a tough afternoon/evening. This morning things are going much better. He tries to climb things like the sofa or the end table. Amazingly enough, he can do stairs! He is housebroken and does not lift his leg in the house! That is a huge bonus! Anyway, he was my Christmas present to myself - getting the satisfaction of having him NOT spend his last days, and especially Christmas in a cage at the shelter. Only other rescue folks can understand this feeling!!!! So, Merry Christmas to Bobby and all of my fellow rescue folks, who I hold in the highest regard, and keep fighting the good fight until hopefully, one day, our services will no longer be required!

I have to say that Bob is having what has probably been his best ever Christmas.
His intake papers indicate that he did not care about toys - what a crock! I have never in my life seen a dog have a better time with a squeaky tennis ball. They could use this guy in their promotional material! He is an absolute hoot with it. This morning we have all received many kisses from Happy Boy Bob.
