So we bought Athena home today. Everything seems to be going good. She likes Rosko and Rosko seems to like her. I do have a question. She wants to play with rosko but I think he gets a little rough with her. I'll post a link to 2 videos. should I relax is this normal puppy play. Or should I insist Rosko not play like this. And do you think Rosko will eventually calm down around her and play somewhat calmer. At 1 year old Rosko is still a pup himself so I just think he doesn't quite know how to play with a smaller pup yet.
Very cute! Usually, the older will tone down the play, but not always.. You should be there until they know each other well and the rules.. Remember, Athena will continue to grow and get stronger. Rosko just needs to know his own weight and strength and let the pup dictate roughness... Once she is 6mos,you probably won't find an issue, lol.. Congratulations she is beauty
I hope so. It's only been 5 hours and I'm exhausted. LOL. Rosko is still a bit unsure and a bit jealous. I figure in a week or so they'll be best buds and it'll be alright.
1st goal is two potty trained dogs. Then I'll work off that. Well and for rosko to realize that he has to share and not everything is his.
I think I'd keep Rosko on a long line and never leave unsupervised.
One wrong jump like he did in the video and he could land on her or her leg, etc, which could result in injury. He's playing but he is SO much bigger than her!
Don't give him cause to be jealous.....all petting and attention........even steven!
Be cautious and don't her around the feeding bowl or bones or favorite toy.... just to be safe.
She's so cute and a lively little thing!Looks like he hasn't figured out how to play with a much smaller dog,but he's trying not to trip over her! What Moms said makes sense.
What drives me nuts is when Rosko plays with other dogs he always has to mouth the back of their necks. He has done this for as long as I can remember. He will start off playing normal then he will start poking the dogs with his nose and jumping back really fast like he is trying to judge their reaction speed. then after a couple times he will mouth the back of their necks and jump back **** repeat this until they chase him. It isn't a hard bite just enough to get them all slobbery.
