Not a dog person ?

I brought home my puppy at 10 weeks age and i have him for almost 3 weeks now... but since the first day he never seem to be interested on other dogs at all !!

If there's another dog 5 feet away no matter what size he just sit there... no effort to smell or come closer at all... almost no interest at all.

we went to a dog park today and he just stay with me the whole time! Always next to me sitting down. There was this sweet lab puppy just came jump on him and roll him over and he didnt know what to do lol...but the lab just kept going at him and he almost try to play but changed his mind and came back next to me again...

Is this a GSD thing or just Ace

My GSD (now 4 yrs old) had no interest in playing with other dogs. He is still aloof when it comes to other dogs. He just doesn't want to be a social butterfly.

He is not dog aggressive. There is a big difference.

Lilie's Tug McGraw "Tug" - Golden Retriever
Maggie - Mini Dachshund (Rescue)
Lonestar Pivo - Texas Blue Lacy

Well.. I know other GSDs that play with other dogs.. so I am going to say it's all based on the individual dog. So in this case, it's an Ace thing, and in my case it's a Titan thing. Titan could care less about other dogs. He MAY sniff them, but he really couldn't care less. The only time he interacts is when I puppy sit and even then, he doesn't want much to do with the other dogs. I watched 3 dogs a couple weeks ago and he would be outside watching them but not playing, even when "asked" by them to play. Then would just come inside with me.

I came to the conclusion, after reading a lot here, there is no need for him to LIKE other dogs. He only has to not be aggressive toward them (IMO) So we go to the dog park and other dog friendly establishments more so I can bring him with me places and we can play in a larger area.

EDIT: I will add that in out home, only, he doesn't tolerate rambunctious play very well unless he really knows the dog. Doesn't escalate anything, just makes them understand he isn't in a playful mood.

Delgado was the same with strange dogs then he found out strange dogs were fun to play with too and that lead to him being leash reactive.

I would encourage your dog to ignore other dogs and focus only on you, the less other dogs (outside of dogs that belong to family and friends) 'exist' in his world the easier it will be for you.

Yepp I am very careful with dogs in our home, because Titan gets snappy when other dogs conssitently get in his face. Doesn't ever act like this in the dog park, but in the home yepp. Glad we know our dogs

That is not a sweet but an out of control pup that can do more harm than good to your pup in regard your dog to become dog aggressive. I avoid these kinda dogs like the plague. Your pup didn't know what to do so you needed to step in and stop the bullying.
It is pretty awesome that he doesn't crave other dogs. it is best when they are neutral to other dogs. So expose him in ways that will not harm him. Good luck with your puppy.
