Dig eating habits

At first my boy would not eat, I figure it was because of his teething. I notice he was eating pieces of kibble on the floor. So I dumped his food out of his bowl on the ground and behold... he eat it. He won't eat from the bowl, only if it's on the ground. Is this normal behavior?

What kind of bowl is it? Maybe it makes the food taste bad to him. I actually feed my pup on the floor. I scatter the kibble to slow his eating. He's a "hoover hound" and gulps his food.

It's a metal bowl.

Metal can taste funny. Is the bowl on the floor or elevated? Does his wiskers touch the side? He might not like that. Try diferent kinds of bowls: bigger metal, plastic, glass, a bowl with short sides.

It's a small bowl that fits a little over a cup. I haven't up graded to bigger yet because he only eats a cup at each sitting. And it's not elevated. I'll will try different Bowles and let you know..:D

Yep, that's a small bowl. I guess he doesn't feel comforable with his nostrils and whiskers in a small space. Just a guess.

Does he lie down to eat?

Yes. He lays down, right now he will only eat from my hands or give him handfuls at a time while laying , on the ground.

Sounds like a lazy eater, is the small bowl kind of high rimmed? If so, you might try to find a really shallow bowl.
Or he just doesn't like the strain on his neck and throat when eating of such a low bowl, so you might even try an elevated bowl, so he's not having to stand up and drop his head so much.
