Need some help....

Trooper is now 7 1/2 months old. We've had him since 10 weeks and he has a very HIGH prey drive, but he is a good boy. This evening we went on a walk and as we passed a fenced yard with a barking dog, he went crazy trying to get up to the fence. However, that's not what concerned me, its when I went to grab him to calm him down he nipped my right forearm, almost like don't touch me while I'm trying to get at the fence. He's never shown signs of aggression toward me and we've worked very hard on establishing the household rules and order. Is this normal behavior? Was this a sign of aggression towards me? Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.

Could be misdirected aggression. When a dog is a zone, they cannot get to what they want to get at or are diverted by something, they may change their direction, I think usually they realize their error.

But, it is time to get your dog back into classes, and under control. You need to work below his threshold and redirect him before he goes nutso toward another dog, or you are going to have to put your foot down and correct him before he gets into his full insanity toward the other dogs. It does no good to allow a dog to get a head of steam going, or to engage in such behavior multiple times. Nip it in the bud or work with him and a trainer to stay below his threshold and slowly improve the threshold by reducing the distance while not reacting.

That makes complete since, because he held back when he nipped, as if he realized, oh crap! Thanks for the great advice!
