Problem with puppy
Hello. I just got a puppy german shepard. He is my first dog so I do not have much experience. I was wondering how to stop him from biting the furniture all the time. He started doing it recently and I just can keep him away from it. Every time I don't look he goes to the sofa and chews on it. Or the shoes. Or table. Anything actually. Thank you very much in advance.
that's a puppy!
You just keep on top of him and keep giving him something appropriate to chew on. When you've had enough and can't take anymore, put him in his crate with a treat filled kong. lol
As posted, provide lots of chew toys, you can make your own. Some of Mya's favorites are chunks of wood, a crushed Milk jug and the plastic 'whackers' from an old 'Whack a Mole' game.
You have to be on a young pup about all the time when out loose in the house, chewing and potty are the main reasons. They need exercise, stimulation, and socialization, but when you have to get something done you should crate the dog.
Our pup is just about 16 weeks and her chewing has gone down a fair amount. She has a fair handle on what's O. K to chew & what's not. Her nipping has dropped off too.
So my advice is to continue to power through and keep the pup under close supervision when loose.
