the pup has been trained to have this person beside them .
the house changed around the dog , made the dog central instead of the dog finding his place.
"We have a spare bedroom that my husband shared with him up until this weekend. He slept in his crate and my husband in a bed "
people don't do this for their children !
a mind-healthy dog has to be close and bonded and be good and secure and learn to by himself .
now the problem is the dog expects what he is used to , now has to un-learn .
wherever you want that dog to be , set up the crate , put the dog in .
don't make a huge fuss putting him in and don't make a huge fuss when you let him out . don't make a scene like he has been rescued off a stranded island. that creates anticipation. make it normal , keep it normal. there shouldn't be much contrast in your behaviour before or after .
put the dog in even when you are there . don't bring out when he is objecting .
