Dog wants company

Hi. I have a 5 month old GSD Xena, and so far her training has been really good but lately we've had a few barking problems.

We recently got 4 chickens. The day before we were dreading their arrival because they were going to be living on the other side of Xena's outdoor fenced area. During the day she spends a lot of time in there (she is still to young to roam the whole property) and we thought she would spend all day barking at the chickens but that is not the problem. If the chickens are in their area Xena completely ignores them.
She starts barking when we are with the chickens on the other side of the fence. The problem has gotten better but she still won't stop. I will call her name and get someone else to give her treats but she just ignores them and continues to bark for our company. It is the same for all members of the family.

Does anyone have any suggestions. They will be greatly appreciated.

P.S She is not allowed in the chicken area. I am not taking any chances.

I think he is asking you to give her one of the chickens so she can "play" with it LOL

HA. Probably. It is still a nuisance though.

Does she bark if you are outside, not with the chickens and she is still in her pen? It may just be the fact she is separated from you and is letting you know she doesn't appreciate it. I would work on it the same way you would if you were crating the pup in the house and they fuss. If the pup is barking, ignore it. Reward it when it's quiet (treats or attention .. let her know when she is doing right).
