Question All he seems to do is sleep...

I have a seven month old pup who will sleep all day. We will play and go for walks, but he just seems to want to sleep all the time. He is in good health and happy it seems, but I don't want him to get bored. We are also trying to get him to sleep in but nothing seems to work. He is up every day at 530, no matter how late we keep him up or how much we did the day before.

Any advice will help.

What kind of exercise does he get? If he would rather sleep than play, then maybe a vet visit is in order.

What does your breeder say? How are his littermates? May be normal for him.

If not, vet visit may be in order...

I wish my dog would sleep during the day....he paces, ALL day, and knocks things over because he doesn't realize how big he is. I would say talk to your vet, just in case, but you could just have a mellow dog

a 7 month pup should be making you want to pull your hair out. if he's sleeping all day then something is either wrong with him or he's just low drive/energy. if he's always been like this then i'd lean towards the you got yourself a couch potato side. i dont think he's bored because bored dogs get into trouble. they dont just sleep.

My female was calm like that at that age, up to that age she was quite energetic. To this day she chills out, but is up for anything. She does not need to be doing something all the time. If you'd concerned go to the vet to ease your mind.

my pup slept a lot. if you think he's sleeping to
much or being lethargic go to the Vet. keep track
of how much he is sleeping. how is he when he's awake?

Sorry for the delay!!

Sorry for the delay in getting back. We go for about three half hour walks a day and we will play with his ball or go to the dog park for a couple hours.

I don't think anything on the health side is wrong, just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing something wrong. I really do think he is just the couch potato type but wanted to get everyone's opinion!!

Thank you all for your input, it makes me feel better!! I'm so happy to be a part of your forum.
