Hmm- what does this mean?
My kids, husband and I were at the swings in our development. A big dog walked by- Max met him before when walking. So I was walking Max over to say hi (this other dog was just standing- he is extremely well behaved and sweet) and Max went all stiff and barked a few times- non friendly. He stayed with me step for step- and we didn't go close- I took the cue from him and apologized to the other couple for Max's lack of socialization. He is good at bus stop with other dogs. Not sure what to do? On a positive note- he is very attentive to me and listens very well to come, sit, lay down, stay, paw, roll over. What does this mean? We've done a few puppy play dates with some friends- just on the leash- meet and greet type of thing- but not much as Max seemed to constantly be battling worms, parasites and a virus.. :( He is healthy now- so it's good for him to meet and greet - but he is 4.5 months now and I'm afraid he's getting antisocial.

dogs give off different vibes, Max may have gotten the wrong vibes from the big dog.
My aussies are fine with other dogs that are friendly. My gsd's , all of them, will co exist with strange dogs but they don't want them in their space or in their face.. Like people, some dogs like others, some don't, they pick and choose I guess:) |
Also be aware our pups go thru different developmental stages and fear periods. Why it's so vital to keep socializing them appropriately.
