Gotta pee at home
 

Gunnar is now 6 months old and he seems to have an issue with peeing away from home. I take him with me to work quite frequently, which equals 6-8 hours in the car as I make my rounds, and while I let him out of the car every few hours for a little stretch of the legs, he refuses to go. As soon as I get home I can command him to go and he will, but he doesn't jump out of the car and immediately go.

My question is, is this an issue that I need to try and overcome? He does pee at the dog park when we go there. And when we go to training class. But otherwise he refuses to go away from home.

Mines was like this. She only did bathroom times at home. She didn't potty anywhere else unless it was an emergency for a long time. Even though she is passed that I think she still prefers to use what thinks is her bathroom.

I didn't do anything to get her passed it. I figured if she had to go bad enough she would if given chances.

Mine was like this to. Even now she is not likely to pee if we aren't home, but she will if she has to. I have never had a dog that I could actually go for a walk with and not have to worry about stopping to sniff and pee...I really like it.

Don't get me wrong, not having to worry about it makes life easier for me, but I'm wondering if I'm not thinking far enough down the road to potential problems.

Nah, mine is 18 months and I haven't had any problems, it is more enjoyable to take her places:D

Maybe it is because of all the new smells, sounds, stuff to investigate? Gus will pee anywhere but it takes a oot lot longer because he has to sniff everything.

Diesel was like this, nothing to worry about

I dogsat a buddies pitbull before. He always just let the dog out and didnt walk it. When I took it into my 3rd floor apartment the dog would ask to go outside and then didnt understand to go potty during the walk. We would come back in and then hed ask out again/repeat. So it is a good idea to get potty during a walk. Try treats when she does go on a walk?
