I have a 13 week old GSD, & when I walk her I let her explore. She is not forced to walk beside me or a certain way. BUT she chooses to walk directly beside me OR she will walk directly behind me like she is playing follow the leader. She bever goes in front of me unless she spots another dog that she is wanting to play with. What does this behavior mean? Walkin beside me doesnt make me curious it's when she walks directly behind my feet?

I don't know, I've never had a dog walk behind me. I had a male pup that wanted to go behind me when unsure, which I didn't allow. Is your pup fearful?

Jazzy always walks either beside or behind me, I've always felt it as a respect thing

she's protecting you because she knows you're afraid. she's watching your back.

She's probably interested in how your feet move and your shoes or how they hit the ground when you walk. She's just curious about everything right now and what she sees is interesting to her. She obviously feels safe with you, protect her innocence. YOU are the protector
